Ask your lawyer, but I do not think you can get a visa just on the basis of H1 extension receipt.
You should apply for travel documents (advance parole) with 485. This will allow you to travel without the need to get a new visa stamp.

No one knows and that is why I said at this time of election period, it is better for them to maintain status quo than favoring legal immigrants.

As close to losing the house as repubs are, they don't want to take any chances by upsetting either pro or anti immigration group and are just keeping the status quo for the most part. They have certainly pissed off the illegal folks but I am not sure how that impacts them on Nov 7th.
On the flip side, however, repubs might have pissed off both pro and anti immigration group by not doing anything at all about the illegal immigration. It just depends on how much people care about immigration issue and if that translates in to votes in November. They might be perceived as a do-nothing party. It is such a dividing issue for both repubs and dems that it will probably be a while before it is settled. We shall wait for that to happen. ;)

What about the thousands who lost 2-4 years because they were stuck in namecheck, now the name check is cleared but the dates will not move..frigging idiots..too little too late

Priority dates were current before early 2005 due to FBI namecheck delays and other processing delays. Hence, EB visa numbers were always underused (and lost). If these processing delays were not so much back then, retrogression would have happened earlier, because there is always more demand than supply for EB visa numbers.
Retrogression can only be resolved by increasing visa numbers and/or recapture of lost visa numbers. Retrogression has nothing to do with FBI namecheck delays. In fact FBI namecheck delays masked the retrogression for one or two years.
We should be happy that namecheck delays are over for now and will restore some degree of FIFO.

Use FOIA form to get a copy of your I-140 approval notice. It is a slow process. Can take upto a year to get the document.

For LI you need to have worked with foreign company for at least 1 yr. I have worked for ABC USA for 7 yrs but not ABC Canada yet. I think for L1 I should work for ABC Canada for more than 1 yr.

Dear Friends, My sincerest hopes and prayers that EB2-I dates advance my PD is Jul 2007 and we narrowly missed the Jul 07 windfall. I hope our wait for EAD & AP ends this year!

I think more members will join and people will be willing to contribute more if they see positive things happening. Right now we seem to be going no where. Even if a basic thing like filing for 485 during retrogression gets passed, people will gain confidence in IV and they will be willing to contribute money.

Without seeing any hope for any changes, people just feel desperate and stay where they are without thinking of this issue.

Most people, if not all, believed that most of the immigration bills, including CIR, SKIL, and 485 filing, have no chance to be passed in the congresses, not only this year, but also in the future. We believe that we contribute to this country so this country needs us. But Americans don't think so. Many ordinary Americans do not really care about legal immigrants. Those who care may have lost their jobs to us. Our employers don't really want us to get GC because we can change jobs freely once we have GC.
Those thoughts, combined with last year's facts, make people believe that we cannot make a change. But I believe that if IV can make any change in the near future, e.g. 485 filing, people would regain confidence and join this organization. This is like a vicious circle. People don't contribute, then IV cannot achieve goals. Thus more people lose confidence and contribute even less.

I am thinking to get the AFFEDEVITS of my wife from her FATHER and MOTHER stating the inforation of my her BIRTH.
My wife was born in XYZ city but now her parents reside in ABC city. My question is will it be OK if her parents get the AFFEDEVIT from ABC city stating that she was born on XXX in XYZ city or does the AFFEDEVIT has to be made from XYZ city only.
I just thought of this and wasnt sure if its ok or not. Can any one please clarrify?

Following points are mentioned in the e-filing confirmation Receipts:
1) DO attached one copy of this Confirmation Receipts
2) DO keep the extra copy of confirmation receipt for your record.
3) DO NOT send a copy of your e- filing application
4) DO NOT include any applications or fee
5) DO NOT mail photos or copies of identification
I did NOT find any where like we need to send, passport copy, drive license copy, photo.

I don't think that would be okay as you would then be jumping the hoop of I-140. I think we should just stay with the modest request of "filing 485" without visa number availability.
even if we can file for 485, the only possible way to move is by using AC-21 provisions, correct?
Also, when using AC-21 provisions to shift the job, do we need to ensure that the job description and responsibilities are similar to the previous job?
